Enabling Cookies in Internet Explorer 6 Visitors who are using Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6) as their Web browser to access the internet may be getting error messages when they try to view or login to some sites. You may experience pages not opening, links not working etc. One way to fix this problem is to change the settings for "cookies" within IE 6. Cookies are pieces of information that a Web site puts on your hard drive so that it can better serve users.
If these settings appear, you will need to change them to prevent potential errors: 1. Check the Override automatic cookie handling box. 2. Click on the Accept radio buttons for First-party cookies and Third-party Cookies. 3. Check the Always allow session cookies box.
4. Click OK.
Click OK again and continue on browsing as you normally would. I still get a "cookies not enabled" message? It is possible for other settings on your computer or browser to interfere with the setting of cookies. If you don't seem to be able to enable your cookies, please try the following: 1. Check the date on your computer. If the computer date is not correct this can prevent cookies from being created. 2. Some security applications can interfere with cookies. If you are running an internet security program, anti virus program or firewall, try turning it off temporarily. If the cookies work okay with the program off, you need to find out how to configure your security application to allow cookies. 3. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, select Internet Options, go to the Privacy tab, under Web sites, click Edit, look for websites in the list with which you are having this issue and check to see if they have the notation always block, if yes, click the "Allow" button, see if it changes to always allow.
